Thursday - Day 4 Final Edition

Both groups were canoeing today in Loch Insch. Another spectacular day of weather which saw Bastien's group canoe up to the top end of the loch and then sailed down using a great technique and rafting up canoes. We all saw the osprey's in full flight today as they nest on an island in the middle of the loch, once they went past with fish in their talons which was quite spectacular.

Luke's group even managed to toast marshmallows on the loch side during a break in the day. Lots of tired faces tonight but very well weathered and looking forward to a disco with Dounby tonight before the long trek home tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday lunchtime.
Another truly spectacular week at Lagganlia which the P7s of 2014-15 have thoroughly enjoyed.
Lagganlia blog posts over and out!

Wednesday - Day 3 of the Lagganlia experience

Mountain biking – Luke’s group started the day with a morning cycle around the forest near Lagganlia. It was interesting for the pupils to experience woodland cycling rather than our roads! ‘I learned how to go over the handlebars on a mountain bike today!’ Lucy. Miss Nicolson even broke her bike after only 2 minutes on it! Hamish and Craig had their own little detour which was not part of the plan! ‘It was incredibly warm and tiring on the bikes, but it was great fun going down the hills. I even saw my first ever lizard’ Liam.

Gorge Walk with Luke’s group – Beautiful weather for the walk up the gorge, wet and wild and very refreshing. Everyone needed a nice cool down after the mountain biking of the morning. ‘I loved sliding down the gorge’ Tamzin. ‘Going down the final slide was awesome, the gorge was gorgeous!’ Hamish.

The Happy Hill walkers! – Bastien’s group ventured up a 1050m Munro at the back of the centre today. A huge challenge and one that really pushed the team to their limit. Such a great attitude from the group got everyone to the top and enjoyed some spectacular views over the whole Cairngorm Range and over to the Nevis Range, we even saw Ben Nevis from a distance. Well team, Mr Mc was very proud of your effort!

Drum fun

Well folks to end the day here at Lagganlia we had a session with Steve 'The Drum'. This as always was a very successful session with some high jinks and capers from Steve in a very entertaining session. We were mixed with the Dounby groups so had 1 group each, in one of the 2 sessions. We were commenting tonight how well the Dounby and Stromness P7s are getting on. Fab!

That's everyone tucked up in bed and ready for the adventures that await us on day 3. Night night! NM

Tuesday update Day 2

Gorge Walk – Batien’s group went up the gorge on Tuesday afternoon. A bit of a hike to get there but worth it in the end. ‘Very challenging but great fun at the gorge’ Ewan. ‘I thought this was the best activity so far because it was wet and refreshing’ Dara. ‘It was a great water activity, except we looked like blue sheep in our safety gear’ Cody.

Mountain walk – A real challenge for Luke’s group today. ‘Really tiring, long and too hot, but great exercise and the views were incredible, well worth the effort’ Liam. ‘Very painful walking all that way, but the view from the top was worth every bit’ Nicola. ‘Best part of the day reaching the top and having packed lunch’ Casey.

Poor Connection around these trees!

Sorry folks. I'm struggling to get photos uploaded due to the connection speed here. I'll keep trying but you might have to make do with text.
Be assured we're having great fun. Here's a virtual smile :-)

Lagganlia Day 2

Tuesday - Bastien's group went on the river Feshie with 'Duckies'! No not rubber ones but inflatable rafts for 2. These were a great hit and everyone got suitably wet!
Luke's crew went on an all day munro hike on the mountain at the back of Laggania in the region of 950 m's above sea level. Just a walk in the park for our bunch of P7s.

Lagganlia Day 1

Monday – After an early start from P7s we had a great crossing on the boat. Thank you to Northlink Ferries for their sponsorship and free breakfast on the boat, this went down well!

We arrived at Lagganlia at 12:30pm just in time for some lunch and a quick meeting with the instructors. Luke and Bastien are the 2 group instructors. Luke’s group ventured into the Lagganlia wilds for an adventure and saw a red squirrel while Bastien’s group saddled up some mountain bikes and went for a short 3 to 4 mile cycle in the forest.

Once everyone got back to the centre we had some time to relax and meet the Dounby P7s before having tea and then taking part in a Lagganlia scavenger hunt.

Most of us were fairly tired after a busy day of travel and activities! Let’s hope for another relatively dry Lagganlia day tomorrow! NM
