Maeshowe and St. Magnus Cathedral

Today we went on a class trip first to Maeshowe and then to St Magnus Cathedral.
At Maeshowe Robert told us about how the Vikings had raided the tomb.  He showed us the huge number of runes that are carved into the walls.  We also saw some of the animals they carved like the Maeshowe Dragon.

We then went on through to St Magnus Cathedral to learn a little about what it has to do with the Vikings.  Fran told us lots of really interesting facts about St Magnus Cathedral and showed us stained glass windows and wooden carvings of Vikings.  She also showed us where the bones of St Magnus are hidden and the story of how they were found.
